For this closing keynote presentation at the NOFA-NY winter meeting in February 2004, I was asked by the organizers to both synopsize the take-home message form three days of meetings about a program called the Public Seed Initiative and to offer a little inspirational lift to the participants.
Note: Knowledgeable listeners will notice a minor mischaracterization (later corrected) in the first discussion of phenotype vs genotype...not too surprising for an extemporaneous presentation on such a technical topic! (That is, in fact, one of the great features of iterative presentation -- that you can fine tune the discussion of a topic as you work it over...)
